Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician III

One Tech Engineering is looking for a Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician located in Roseville, Minnesota.

The Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician will lead complex inspections, troubleshooting and repairs while mentoring junior technicians.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders and should have two to four years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field.

Solar Operations & Maintenance Technician Responsibilities

• Ensure work is performed in accordance with established safety policies and procedures.
• Review field activities and ensure the correct PPE is available and being used properly.
• Create PLOTO and LOTO switch plans for approval.
• Act as work leader for Pre-Job Briefs, Job Safety Analysis, Personal LOTO and switch plan LOTO activities.
• Lead comprehensive inspections of solar power plants.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
• Supervise and train junior technicians on inspection and maintenance procedures.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues, including grid-integration and communication problems.
• Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to diagnose and address system-performance issues.
• Develop and implement corrective-action plans.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of inspections, maintenance and repairs.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management.
• Maintain high-quality work-order documentation and provide oversight and direction to junior technicians.
• Stay current on industry trends and emerging solar technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Contribute to the development of training materials and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two to four years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field.
• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification.
• NFPA 70E certification.
• FAA Part 107 certification or proficiency operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes.
• Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, solar-energy technologies and grid-tied systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers and isolation testers.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior technicians in the field.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
