This is an on-site position in Wausau, Wisconsin. Local candidates are preferred. The role requires more than 30% domestic and international travel for inspections, FAT, installation, SAT, startup, commissioning and customer support.
The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for a position located in Wausau, Wisconsin.

The Mechanical Engineer will design and implement mechanical and hydraulic systems used in industrial and electrical generation facilities.

The position is responsible for engineering work associated with assigned projects, including calculations, design reports, technical documentation, hydraulic schematics, machinery, piping and commissioning activities.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders. The position is not eligible for sponsorship and is not remote.

Position Overview

This role combines mechanical engineering, hydraulic system design, equipment sizing, static and dynamic calculations, FAT and SAT execution, installation engineering, field inspections, customer training and system commissioning.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design and implement mechanical and hydraulic systems for industrial and generation facilities.
  • Commission mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Develop hydraulic schematic diagrams.
  • Design, develop, test and start up assigned projects.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and supporting design documentation.
  • Perform demolition and installation engineering.
  • Conduct mechanical design reviews.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing activities.
  • Provide installation supervision as required.
  • Perform Site Acceptance Testing activities.
  • Support customer training for installed systems.
  • Perform mechanical and hydraulic system commissioning.
  • Complete hydraulic calculations for system sizing.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations for component selection.
  • Complete mechanical calculations for system sizing and component selection.
  • Perform mechanical equipment design.
  • Conduct on-site inspections as assigned.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings.
  • Perform peer reviews of engineering work.
  • Prepare Operations and Maintenance manuals.
  • Prepare FAT, installation and SAT documentation.
  • Prepare customer training documentation.
  • Provide conceptual system engineering for installations.
  • Perform static and dynamic calculations.
  • Design machines, brackets and supports.
  • Design piping for new and existing equipment.
  • Utilize electrical and hydraulic test equipment.
  • Work with controls, electrical, HMI and mechanical disciplines.
  • Coordinate with mechanical designers to develop mechanical and hydraulic drawings.
  • Support the Engineering division as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Alternatively, a technical degree with five years of related professional experience.
  • Experience designing and working with hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic power units.
  • Experience with hydraulic control manifolds.
  • Experience with hydraulic cylinders.
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Strong mechanical conceptualization ability.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to decision-makers.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • U.S. or Canadian Professional Engineer registration, or ability to become registered.
  • Ability to travel more than 30% domestically and internationally.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
  • Must be available to work on-site in Wausau, Wisconsin.
