The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Project Controls Specialist Assistant for a position located in Walnut Creek, California.

The Project Controls Specialist Assistant will support all aspects of project controls and reporting, including project change management, cost control, progress measurement, schedule development and schedule control.

The position supports project teams with cost forecasts, change orders, cash flow, schedule development, resource loading, earned value management and field validation.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is preferred, although applicable experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Position Overview

This role provides hands-on support across cost controls, change management, schedule development, earned value, progress measurement, field audits and project controls reporting.

Project Controls Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing and approving purchase orders and subcontracts for proper coding.
  • Input and document changes to cost reports and project forecasts.
  • Assist with upstream prime-contract and downstream purchase-order and subcontract change orders.
  • Assist with development of project cash flow.
  • Assist in developing various levels of project schedules.
  • Apply logic ties within schedules.
  • Support resource loading of project schedules.
  • Coordinate project schedules and assist with development of scheduling reports.
  • Retrieve, review and distribute pre-programmed scheduling reports with supporting documentation.
  • Update and document schedule progress.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining an earned value management system.
  • Verify project progress measurements.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining project progress curves.
  • Perform material takeoffs.
  • Assist with quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
  • Assist with field audits to validate reporting and process accuracy.
  • Perform additional project controls duties as assigned.
  • Comply with applicable company policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Applicable professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 is preferred.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification is considered a plus.
