The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a High Voltage Journeyman Lineman for a position located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The High Voltage Journeyman Lineman will interpret electrical plans, prints and specifications while performing high-voltage construction and maintenance activities.

The position includes energized work up to and including 230kV, pole and tower climbing, underground residential distribution installations, hotline tools, aerial devices, grounding procedures and troubleshooting of primary and secondary systems.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders. The position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Position Overview

This field role combines high-voltage line construction, energized electrical work, troubleshooting, safe equipment operation, grounding, crew training and pre-job safety planning across power-line systems up to 230kV.

Journeyman Lineman Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in pole and tower climbing, underground residential distribution installations, hotline tools and aerial devices.
  • Perform work on energized high-voltage systems up to and including 230kV.
  • Operate equipment associated with high-voltage work safely and effectively.
  • Provide on-the-job training to apprentices and other crew members involved in power-line construction and maintenance.
  • Identify primary and secondary voltage on electrical circuits.
  • Understand induced voltage and proper electrical grounding procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely and maintain company tools and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Complete assigned work safely, efficiently and within established timelines.
  • Troubleshoot problems in primary and secondary electrical systems.
  • Conduct pre-job or tailboard briefings before field work begins.
  • Perform additional duties or work at other locations as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Program.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A.
  • Ability to meet all applicable Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time.
