The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Director of Construction to lead utility-scale solar EPC construction from Notice to Proceed through Commercial Operation Date.

The Director of Construction will oversee all field construction activities while ensuring projects are delivered safely, at the required quality level, on schedule and within budget.

The role directs field superintendents and construction teams, manages civil, mechanical and electrical subcontractors, oversees logistics and material delivery, and coordinates commissioning, energization and grid interconnection activities.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders and the position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Position Overview

This senior field leadership position owns utility-scale solar construction execution from NTP to COD across projects ranging from approximately 20 MW to more than 500 MW.

Director of Construction Responsibilities

  • Lead all field operations for utility-scale solar projects ranging from approximately 20 MW to more than 500 MW.
  • Oversee installation of PV modules, trackers, inverters, DC and AC systems, substations and balance of plant.
  • Direct site superintendents and field teams to support efficient project execution.
  • Own site-level execution of EPC contracts, including scope, schedule and cost.
  • Drive construction schedules aligned with contractual milestones from NTP to COD.
  • Manage field budgets, labor productivity and cost controls to protect project margin.
  • Support change-order development, claims management and contract compliance.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors across civil, mechanical and electrical scopes.
  • Ensure subcontractor performance, safety compliance and adherence to contract requirements.
  • Oversee material deliveries, inventory control and site logistics involving modules, racking, transformers and inverters.
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture and enforce OSHA and company HSE standards.
  • Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks and incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with permits, environmental regulations and AHJ requirements.
  • Implement QA/QC programs so installations meet engineering and manufacturer standards.
  • Oversee mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams and utilities for testing, energization and grid interconnection.
  • Serve as the primary on-site representative to clients, owners and third-party stakeholders.
  • Provide regular reporting covering schedule, cost, risk and project progress.
  • Resolve field issues proactively to maintain client satisfaction and project momentum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
  • 10 to 15+ years of construction experience.
  • At least 5 years of utility-scale solar EPC project experience.
  • Demonstrated success delivering large-scale solar farms under EPC contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, substations and grid interconnection processes.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Procore, Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Strong EPC project execution and contract management expertise.
  • Proven field leadership and team-development capability.
  • Strong financial understanding with emphasis on cost control and margin protection.
  • Advanced problem-solving capability in fast-paced construction environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
