The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Construction Project Manager for a position located in Lexington or Louisville, Kentucky.

The Construction Project Manager will oversee day-to-day construction activities and lead the successful execution of one or multiple projects across complex construction environments.

The position manages project safety, quality, scheduling, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, estimates, documentation, field staff and client relationships throughout project execution.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders and should have a bachelor's degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field with seven years of relevant construction project-management experience.

Position Overview

This role combines construction leadership, safety and quality management, project controls, contract administration, procurement, subcontractor management, client coordination, cost forecasting and field execution.

Construction Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Promote and manage project safety and health performance for project teams and subcontractors.
  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities across one or multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating and cost development.
  • Establish and manage critical project objectives.
  • Develop new client relationships and manage existing client accounts.
  • Coordinate proposal and project-related client communication.
  • Participate in internal and external project risk reviews.
  • Coordinate with legal teams on project and contract risks where required.
  • Negotiate prime contracts, construction management contracts, subcontracts and change orders.
  • Implement assigned portions of the Project Execution Plan.
  • Support construction quality, safety, subcontracting, staffing and procurement plans.
  • Develop construction staffing plans and train project teams.
  • Coordinate multiple engineering and construction disciplines.
  • Support site layout, mobilization and demobilization planning.
  • Verify applicable project permits are secured before required work.
  • Manage downstream RFP and subcontractor bid processes.
  • Develop scopes of work for subcontractors and client contractors.
  • Support bidder development, prequalification, evaluation and award recommendations.
  • Review project budgets, cash-flow forecasts and status reports.
  • Present construction performance information to project and executive leadership.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables with project schedule requirements.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change management and contract closeout.
  • Support claims mitigation and project documentation.
  • Oversee prime contract, subcontractor and client contractor invoicing.
  • Coordinate commissioning and startup teams where required.
  • Implement and audit project documentation processes.
  • Perform safety, quality, progress and financial audits.
  • Oversee project-specific non-conformance reporting.
  • Manage cost reporting, scheduling and field progress tracking.
  • Develop materials receiving and inventory-management processes.
  • Review contract documents with field staff for compliance.
  • Manage project turnover, warranty administration and closeout documentation.
  • Review construction field reports and project performance data.
  • Mentor construction coordinators, interns, craft supervision and assistant project managers.
  • Manage staffing, labor classifications and craft workforce planning.
  • Manage earned value, schedule, cost and change-management metrics.
  • Manage construction equipment inventory required for project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field.
  • Seven years of relevant project management experience in construction.
  • Applicable professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with document-control systems is preferred.
  • Experience with project scheduling software is preferred.
  • Experience with construction cost-control software is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of work and multiple priorities.
  • Construction-site or program-management experience in aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil and gas, process, transportation, T&D or water is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Ability to work on-site or relocate as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
