The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Project Manager for a position located in Denver, Colorado.

The Project Manager will lead engineers while executing technically complex water infrastructure projects including drinking water treatment facilities, pump stations and water storage tanks.

The role provides leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, covering safety, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, permitting, project controls and public or community relations.

This position will also serve as a primary client contact, manage financial and schedule performance, support multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to business development throughout the regional water market.

Position Overview

This role combines water and wastewater infrastructure, multidisciplinary engineering, project controls, client management, financial planning, contract administration, construction coordination and business development.

Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects from concept through completion.
  • Provide overall project safety leadership.
  • Maintain project quality expectations.
  • Coordinate engineering execution activities.
  • Coordinate procurement activities.
  • Support construction execution and coordination.
  • Coordinate project permitting activities.
  • Manage project controls requirements.
  • Support public and community relations where required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ensure deliverables meet internal QA/QC requirements.
  • Ensure services meet client expectations.
  • Serve as the primary client point of contact.
  • Build trusted long-term client relationships.
  • Develop project schedules.
  • Monitor project schedules throughout execution.
  • Define and manage project scope.
  • Plan for the financial success of projects.
  • Plan project personnel requirements.
  • Communicate staffing needs to department management.
  • Report project progress to department leadership.
  • Report project cost metrics.
  • Report project schedule metrics.
  • Escalate design questions requiring additional support.
  • Communicate significant project challenges.
  • Provide appropriate performance feedback to team members.
  • Identify upcoming project opportunities.
  • Position the company for future work.
  • Lead project proposal development.
  • Support acquisition of new projects.
  • Expand the existing client base.
  • Leverage client relationships to generate repeat work.
  • Manage review of prime contracts.
  • Support contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate contract approval and execution.
  • Manage subcontracts.
  • Manage project change orders.
  • Maintain visibility in the regional water and wastewater marketplace.
  • Participate in professional organizations.
  • Provide industry trends and feedback to water leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Degree must be from an accredited program.
  • Minimum seven years of related experience.
  • Ten years of experience preferred.
  • Experience should include design engineering work.
  • Three or more years managing engineering projects.
  • A related master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Previous consulting experience preferred.
  • Professional registration preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management success strongly preferred.
  • Proven business development ability strongly preferred.
  • Ability to establish long-term client relationships.
  • Construction project site experience preferred.
  • Program management experience is valuable.
  • Experience in water infrastructure is preferred.
  • Related aviation, commercial or energy experience may be valuable.
  • Government or manufacturing project experience may qualify.
  • Oil & gas or process industry experience may be applicable.
  • Transmission & Distribution project experience may also be applicable.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
