The Opportunity

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Transmission and Distribution Superintendent for a position located in Springfield, Ohio.

The T&D Superintendent is responsible for field operations on assigned projects to support safe, timely and profitable project completion.

The role includes supervision of transmission line construction, substation work, subcontractors, materials, scheduling, project safety and overall construction performance.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders. Local candidates are preferred, although candidates open to relocation may be considered. This is not a remote position.

Position Overview

This role combines T&D field leadership, high-voltage transmission construction, substation oversight, subcontractor management, safety leadership, project controls and construction quality management.

T&D Superintendent Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and supervise specific portions of construction work for an assigned project area.
  • Maintain continuity of job progress and maximize construction efficiencies.
  • Oversee high-voltage transmission lines, steel and wood transmission structures, drilled piers, spread footings and grounding.
  • Oversee environmental requirements, substation equipment, structures, electrical systems and substation controls.
  • Supervise overall construction effort, including safety, craft productivity, materials, equipment and scheduling.
  • Monitor engineering and contractual performance of assigned project work.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with contractual requirements for designated T&D construction activities.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, A/E representatives and other contractors.
  • Collaborate with project management to develop and implement project procedures, working documents and standards.
  • Authorize purchase requisitions and field design change requests under Construction Manager and Project Manager supervision.
  • Lead overall project safety activities and review site-specific safety documentation.
  • Review Pre-Task Analyses and Task Safety Observations on a regular basis.
  • Complete daily field reports and take daily photographs documenting construction progress.
  • Review subcontractor three-week look-ahead reports and identify potential concerns with upcoming work.
  • Develop marked-up and as-built drawings for final record documentation.
  • Answer RFIs with assistance from the Assistant Project Manager or Field Engineer.
  • Direct subcontractors as required to maintain compliance with the project schedule.
  • Track subcontractor progress using installed quantities and work hours.
  • Verify material deliveries meet specifications and are stored correctly.
  • Coordinate with the QA/QC Manager to verify welders are properly qualified.
  • Witness equipment setting and alignment.
  • Walk down systems before, during and after testing to verify drawing and specification compliance.
  • Develop punch lists for incomplete or non-compliant work.
  • Verify current drawing revisions are being used in the field.
  • Understand and execute project scope and ensure field change orders are implemented.
  • Oversee craft supervision and project staffing as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and seven years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects.
  • Alternatively, Associate's Degree and nine years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects.
  • Alternatively, High School Diploma or GED and eleven years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong construction safety background.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
  • Must meet company driving requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
